2014 Innovator Under 35

Ayah Bdeir is founder and CEO of littleBits, which makes a library of electronic modules that snap together with magnets for easy prototyping, learning and play. As an engineer and a leader in the Maker movement, she has focused on advancing open source hardware to make education and innovation more accessible. She is a co-founder of the Open Hardware Summit, an alumna of the MIT Media Lab, a TED Senior Fellow, one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business, and one of Inc.'s 35 Under 35. Originally from Lebanon and Canada, she now lives in New York City. She received bachelor's degrees in computer engineering and sociology from the American University of Beirut and a master's degree in computing culture from the MIT Media Lab.
