Guihua Yu is an assistant professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with highest honor from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Harvard University. His thesis research centered on developing self-assembly strategies for semiconductor nanowire building blocks for highly integrated nanoelectronic circuits and ultrasensitive nanobiosensor arrays. After three years of postdoctoral research at Stanford University, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Texas Materials Institute at UT Austin. His current research focuses on novel synthesis and self-assembly of new materials with rationally designed nanostructures and unique chemical and physical properties for advanced energy and environmental technologies. His research has been covered by Nature News, Science News, Forbes, R&D Magazine, Popular Science and other publications.
